So I’m sure you took note of the title to this blog. Are you a murder?
Now that I have your attention, lets see what the Bible is talking about. Or what Bonnie is talking about.
In church we are studying the book of Romans. The pastor is taking a portion each week and explaining it to us. I have learned a lot and it has open my eyes to many things. Last week he was talking about “God’s judgment of Sin.” (Romans 2:1-11, and Romans 1: 24-32) (Good verses, you should read them) So the pastor was talking about how in the second chapter that Paul turns the reference from “They”, in chapter 1:24-32, to “YOU” in chapter 2. How “WE”, the people of the church may think we can condemn people that sin. But we are just as bad as they are. If you anger, or call others “wicked”, or judge others.
The pastor then referenced the Sermon On The Mount, and stated, that if we had anger in our heart, we are guilty of murder. He got my attention real fast!!!!
Let’s see what the Bible tells us……..
Matthew 5: The Sermon On The Mount. There are several portions or sections to this sermon, from “The Beatitudes” to “Teaching About Love For Enemies”. It is the section “Teaching About Anger” that I want to talk about.
“You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgement.’ But, I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgement! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.”
So what is Jesus saying here? If you have anger in your heart you are guilty of murder?
Look at 1 John 4:15
“Anyone who hates another brother or sister is really a MURDERER at heart. And you know that murders don’t have eternal life within them.”
So I ask you; Have you ever been angry at someone? I have. So, we are/were murders. You notice I put “are/were” here. We must love one another, like God has commanded us to do. If we “slip” and get angry at someone, we must ask for forgiveness.
You see, God wants all of us to go to Heaven to be with him. He has a place for each of us. He doesn’t have favorites. (The Bible even says that in Romans 2:11) We just have to accept Jesus as our savior. We must be “Slow to Anger”. And we MUST love everyone. No matter who they are. No matter what they do. No matter the color of their skin. We are not the judge. God is!!
“And this is his commandment: we MUST deliver in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us.”
Stop being a murder. I know I am. Love Everyone.
My prayer to each and every one of you as always is that you ask the Lord to come into your heart. That you have the relationship with him that I have. That we all meet in Heaven one day.”
